Decanted for 2 hours. What seemed to be closed at first before decanting just exploded with massive nose which was intoxicating. Incredibly smooth and velvety. Multi-layered with long finish. Excellent!

Medium garnet colored with nice sweet dark fruits and spice in the nose. Structure is excellent and everything is well balanced but quite firm. Good length.

About This Producer


Established in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto, one of the historic Langhe townships, this estate is now entering its third generation of Barolo production. With a historic connection to the land at the forefront of the winemaking philosophy, this estate creates exceptional Barolos, Barberas, and Dolcettos. The Bric del Fiasc Barolo is the hallmark of the family's production, from a vineyard that always produced the best Nebbiolo fruit. In 1978, this fruit was vinified on its own for the first time and it has remained a special bottling ever since.

Wine Varietal: Nebbiolo


Big, dark, and bold, Nebbiolo is a robust variety with heavy tannins and a sometimes bitter profile. While areas outside Italy (Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, California, and South Africa) have begun cultivating Nebbiolo, the Italian region of Piedmont is where it reaches its greatest height. It is here, the historic home to Nebbiolo, where the finest Barolos and Barbarescos are produced. Many winemakers have compared this grape to Pinot Noir for its difficult growing habits and unpredictable cellar and aging behavior. Typical descriptors for Nebbiolo include roses, violets, tar, wild herbs, cherries, raspberries, truffles, and tobacco.
