($65) Rich yellow color. Rather full-blown, expressive aromas of peach, apricot, minerals, licorice and mint. Fat with peachy fruit and complicated by notes of white flowers and vanillin oak. A sweet, pliant fruit bomb with less of the mineral and sulfidey character shown by some of the other Kistler 2001s. And yet this is still rather unevolved; a few years in bottle should bring even more complexity. Very long on the aftertaste.Author: Stephen Tanzer
