Professional Reviews For This Wine

Wine Advocate | Rating: 91

A truly great wine is the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Reserve. A sweet nose of vanilla and black cherry liqueur intermixed with currants, spice box, and fruitcake jumps from the glass of this elegant, medium to full-bodied Cabernet. With beautiful density, ripeness, and loads of fruit and texture, it will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring, and last for 10-15 years.

An elegant, creamy wine, with ripe, deftly balanced layers of currant, black cherry, mocha and vanilla. The acidity keeps the flavors vibrant and gives it a cleansing finish, with firm tannins.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
