Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 91

Always one of the darker Brunellos, this one is a saturated dark red color with inky highlights but is nonetheless not atypically black or purple. Deep and spicy on the nose, displaying racy aromas of sour red cherry, blackberry and mint; at once concentrated and refined. Big and broad, with highly concentrated flavors of raspberry, licorice and game showing impressive depth and purity. The raspberry element veers toward liqueur-like at the end, but with no loss of cut or clarity. Youthfully aggressive tannins make this a candidate for at least a few years of cellar time.

Deep dark cherries all ove the palate but not unctuous. A delicious brunello almost at peak performance.

Italyâ??s most popular grape, Sangiovese is the top grape used in Tuscany including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and many of Italyâ??s â??Super Tuscans.â?? At least 14 clones of Sangiovese exist which are grouped into the Sangiovese grosso and Sangiovese piccolo families. Sangiovese thrives in a warm climate and consists of over 10% of Italyâ??s vineyard acreage (covering almost a quarter million acres). Over the past decade Sangiovese has become increasingly popular and successful in California as well.
