Professional Reviews For This Wine

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 87-90

Bright ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry, violet, maple syrup and sweet oak. Pliant and sweet in the mouth; dark berry flavors complicated by notes of violet, licorice and mint. Finishes with firm, building tannins that are dusty but not dry. Showing well today.

Finally this wine has aged and turned into a lovely St Emilion, good fruit/tannin/acid balance. My only reservation is that this wine was frier than any other ST Emilion I've ever tasted.

A nice wine. Medium bodied with subtle flavors and a long finish. Not the flashy, fruity ripeness that is so common now.

Opaque, dense, rich, full bodied and sweet berry aromas. Not a typical Bordeaux in my view, very interesting though.

Wine Varietal: Bordeaux Blend

Six varieties are permitted to be used in a red Bordeaux blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and, less frequently, Carmenere. Each lends a specific characteristic to the finished blends, most of which are dominated by large percentages of either Cabernet Sauvignon, which brings aromatics and age-ability, or Merlot, which adds softness and body. In the Bordeaux region, Cabernet blends are found on the Left Bank and Merlot on the Right.
