Professional Reviews For This Wine

Wine Spectator | Rating: 94

Firm, tightly wound and austere, with a compact band of earth, mineral, currant, sage, tea and cherry. Turns tannic and concentrated on the finish, where the flavors sail on. 120 cases made.

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89(+?)?

Deep, saturated ruby. More austere, vibrant aromas of crystallized blackberry and flowers. Tougher and more backward on the palate, and less sweet, than the Diamond Mountain cab, but there's plenty of texture here. Huge, slightly abrasive tannins coat the entire palate. Does this possess the balance to harmonize with bottle aging.

About This Producer

Lokoya wines are identified with the terroir of Napa's mountain vineyards. Sparse soils, high elevations, good drainage, and the cool climates of the mountains and benches form the backbone for intense Cabernet Sauvignons.

Lokoya's goal is to choose sites, lots, and rows of vines that express the terroir and identity of their location through their wines.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
