Professional Reviews For This Wine

Wine Advocate | Rating: 90

While not one of the great Vieux-Telegraphes, 1989 continues to perform well. It is dense, sweet, and ripe, with copious quantities of seaweed, iodine, smoke, black cherry, and plum-like fruit offered in a medium-bodied, slightly tannic style. Fully mature, it should last for another decade.

Wine Varietal: Rhone Blend

"Rhone blends" are typically red wines comprised of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre in varying proportions. However, the red blends may also include any of the traditional varieties grown in the Rhone Valley such as the 14 allowed in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation. There are also Rhone blend roses which use the same varieties as their red counterparts. White Rhone blends are typically some combination of Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache blanc, and lesser varieties.
