Attractive for its deep, rich fruit and spicy aromas, this is very young, intense and complex, with tiers of currant, plum and black cherry flavors and toasty oak notes. Stylish, very complete and firmly tannic on the finish, but it should reward cellaring until 1997 to 2001. 2,300 cases made.

The 1987 Napa Cabernet reveals an opaque dark purple color, and a strong yet unevolved bouquet of cassis, minerals, and toasty oak. Rich, but very tannic and full, this wine should be at its best between 1998-2010.

Bright ruby-red. Wild, complex, slightly medicinal aromas of redcurrant, meat, leather and mint. Dense, concentrated and chewy, with its muscular aspect leavened by deep sweetness. Offers lovely vinosity. Finishes with substantial but ripe tannins and very good length.

About This Producer

Dunn Vineyards is located east of St. Helena in the town of Angwin on Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. In 1972 Randy and Lori purchased the original vineyard property. The winery was established in 1979, with the first harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. In 1981, the first release offered consumers 660 cases of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Howell Mountain vineyards. In 1982, Dunn also released their first Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Currently Dunn Vineyards produces around 5000 cases of extremely age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
