Dom Pérignon Rosé is always amazingly expensive and seldom worth the money. The '82 has an orange colour, an elegant fruity nose, and a powerful taste of orange toffee, leaving quite a definite impression on the palate. A slightly fungal Pinot smokiness appears with storage.

A beautifully mature, mellow Champagne that has lots to offer the serious connoisseur. Almost Burgundian in flavor, with mushroom, spice and almond accents to the core of honey and cherry. The flavors linger and blend on the finish. Drink now.

About This Producer

Dating back to 1743, Moet & Chandon is the largest and most recognized champagne brand and producer in the world. Dom Perignon, its most famous label, took its name from the Benedictine monk whom legend claims was the first to produce the sparkling beverage we know as champagne. The company was founded by Dutchman Claude Moet, who originally shipped wine to Paris to supply the royal court's growing desire for sparkling wine. The company introduced the concept of vintage champagne in the 1840s and began their popular brand "Brut Imperial" in the 1860s. Today Moet & Chandon is a segment of the international luxury goods brand "LVMH," after merging with Hennessy Cognac in 1971 and Louis Vuitton in 1987. Moet & Chandon also fathered the sparkling wine venture Domaine Chandon in the Napa Valley.

Wine Varietal: Champagne Blend

Three major varieties are used in a Champagne Blend: Chardonnay, which provides a smooth, creamy texture and Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, which provide depth and backbone. Most Champagne is non-vintage (NV), produced with grapes from several different vintages. Vintage Champagnes are made in exceptional years and must contain 80% grapes from that year. Champagne, France is the only region permitted to put "Champagne" on the label.

Blanc de Blancs: Meaning "white of white," blanc de blancs Champagne is 100% Chardonnay.

Blanc de Noirs: Meaning "white of red," is 100% Pinot Noir or a Pinot Noir/Pinot Meunier blend.

Rose Champagne: A small amount of still red wine is added during the blending process, creating a rose hue.
