"Brick red in color, with pronounced amber rim ; penetrating bouquet - spicey currant fruit ; full, rich on the palate - still some tannins - but very fine black currant fruit augmented with some cedary hints ; long lasting finish."

About This Producer

Founded in 1967, Chappellet is one of the most established family-owned wineries in California. The portfolio of wines is still remarkably focused on what got them where they are today. Estate-grown Chardonnay and Cabernet are still the benchmarks here. Sited on the slopes of Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey on the eastern side of Rutherford, neighbors include renowned producers Colgin, David Arthur, Girard, Long and Ovid.

Wine Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is perhaps the world's best known red variety, with its full-bodied, intense profile. An offspring of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it is the primary grape of Bordeaux's Left Bank (Medoc and Graves regions) and the Napa Valley, but can be found growing all over the world. Typical descriptors for Cabernet Sauvignon are cassis, cedar, mint, black pepper, eucalyptus, and pencil lead.
