The 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay blend of this bubbly comes from 35- to 40-year-old vines which are 100% grand cru. The majority of the blend comes from the stellar 2002 vintage (one of the best in the last 20 years) and is a testament to the lush and layered textures of this great vintage. The nose is a wonderland of Meyer lemon curd, biscotti and stone fruit. The mouth assumes the dominating quality of the Pinot Noir with flavors of raspberry, lime blossoms, jasmine and a dusting of peppery peaches. Very long finish of mineral and terroir. Disappointment. I read with interest an article about "revolutionary" champagne producers [Champagne has never been my favorite, I should be hasty to add] and this one was available in a local store. Not much difference, but for me not a real wine. Interestingly, my original score was 84. It was kept in the fridge and forgotten about for a week. Tasting it again (no bubbles left), it tasted much better and there was some residual complexity although of modest proportions. All in all, avoid. But will try more producers from that article.

From 0.375ml bottle with a few years bottle age at least. Big, deep nose of intense baked apples with a slightly oxidative notes. Very true to house style. Vinous, powerful and intense palate, with some red berries and red apples. Match food like a big white wine rather than a champagne and drink in burgundy-style glasses for a great experience. Lovely.

Pale yellow colour. Medium nose with floral, honey notes. Good and balanced yeast, medium acidity. Good structure and depth, medium long aftertaste. Very fine bubbles. Interesting champagne with vanilla and some light minerality.

Medium gold color with a frothy but fine bead. Intense nose of bready and slightly decayed lemons, stone, tart pear, and unsweetened orange marmalade. Quite rich in the mouth with excellent depth of flavor. Good length with ending flavors of minerals and stone. Acidity is there but is unobtrusive. Very flavorful but not the most elegant of Champagnes. The sampled bottles came from Lot 62 which was disgorged in November 2003 after 41 months aging. Unfiltered. Bottle variation noted.
