I really have to hand it to this wine. I opened it and thought "oh it's past its prime" it's all disjointed but in 30 minutes it really came together and showed what it really was. Unlike the dark fruit grenache across the pyrenees, this was red fruits, leather and tobacco leaf. The nose and mouth just kept on keeping on with a nice big mouth feel with nice acid and a powerful bouquet. If anything I didn't pair it with the right food and it may have been a little on the hot side, but I definitely understand the rating.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
