Tasted On 03/20/2013

Had this in my cellar since June 2011, sampled at a tasting with the winemaker. Reasonably priced wines. The nose is very musty with dark cherry and slight vanilla. Extremely earthy, tart and medium+ bodied. Nicely balanced combo of spice, tart red fruit and earthiness. A food wine for sure, great with roasted chicken. Makes me think of cooked mushrooms in some sort of creamy sauce.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
