True to form, this 2009 example from Honig was excellent. With a dark garnet color, a medium to full body, and what I would call forward but subdued tannins, this wine did not disappoint. Bing cherry and leather were pronounced upon opening, but after an hour of decanting it changed to more of a warm caramel and leather on the palate. The wine finished strong with a lingering cherry note. Always a pleasure to drink. Love this wine.

This has dark berries, currants and mublerries. But it is not a deep bodied wine, nor exceptional. Not tannic and very approachable now. Great everyday wine though. Good price

Very young. I would recommend keeping this one down for a few more years. Still enjoyable, but too tanic.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
