Producer Notes

What to do when you find the land you purchased for retirement is, in fact, perfectly suited to growing Cabernet Napa? Plant a vineyard and start a new career. Teresa Norton and Tom Paine did just that in 1989, planting 3 acres under the direction of legendary vineyard manager David Abreu. Drink Dates 2011

You have to taste this to believe that a Sauvignon Blanc from California can be this good. It is one of the most complex and interesting white wines I have ever tasted. Initial bouquet of clover honey, grass, butterscotch & a smokey, scorched fruit character. Flavors of peach and subtle spice in the mouth. Then picks up complexity with herbaceous, wet stone, minerally nuances. This has superb palate impact and a very long finish. I could go on and on trying to describe the nuances of this wine. Incidentally, do not drink this chilled at all. Initally I poured it at about 65 degrees, but I think it was even better as it warmed up a little bit more. I am not an expert so could not rightfully say how long this would last; but there is absolutely no reason to wait to drink this bottle...

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
