A solid bottle of wine which needs an hour or two to open up. Once open you notice pencil lead on the nose with a mouthful of ripe fruit and a hint of dust. This wine is well structured and nice to drink. Parker was crazy giving this wine a 99.

(199.00) Very perfumed and beautiful, with currants, flowers, and notes of mint. Full bodied, with round velvety tannins that lead up to a chocolate and ripe berry finish. This is showing great fruit, and a great finish. Structurally this is like a 2005 La Mission. Made in a more masculine style, the 2008 Dominus has all of that along with bigger body and more structure, fat, density and texture. A brilliant wine that represent the finest back-to-back vintages for Dominus since 2001 and 2002 or 1990 and 1991. 2008 Dominus should drink well for 25-30 years. Only three Cabernet based wines from Napa in 2008 outscored Dominus, receiving 100 point scores, but they sell for two to three times the price, a lot to pay for one point! The blend for the 2008 Dominus Estate is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petite Verdot.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
