Opened and drank over 3 hours. Medium-dark ruby color. Aromatic with lots of red fruit, some flowers and spice, and a touch of earth - very fresh on the nose. On the palate, this is a fairly big wine, but not without some elegance. Great mouth feel with some lingering unresolved tannins, but this is a wine that can be enjoyed over the next few years. The finish has a hint of bitterness, perhaps an indication of some under-ripeness. But overall, surprising to the upside, especially for a so-so vintage.

Color is medium pinot. Nose is dominated by earthy minerals and musty dark berry fruit. Palate is seriously concentrated and fairly long. Masculine, rustic, dark berry on front, smoothing out to a licorice, anise, and plum mid palate and finish. Solid juicy acids and sharp tannins. Young, but drinkable. Overall a concentrated and masculine burgundy.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
