So much sweet red fruits, raspberries but lots of chalk/concrete aspects on the palate. Fast, glass staining legs, really well balanced with plenty of tannins and strong acid. Some vanilla, probably from the oak. Reminiscent of a Rhone wine but missing that ganache-ness. Could have smoothed out for another couple of years. Solid effort and very lovely.

This is an erzatz rendition of a Cotes-du-Rhone; it makes no attempt at capturing the authentic character of the original, but is vinified for American palates. It drinks more like a flashy Meritage than a Rhone blend. That said, this is a ripe-tasting, delicious red that pairs nicely with grilled beefsteak or lamb. I did not experience the medicinal qualities noted by other tasters; rather, I found this perfectly serviceable. In a good place right now. Last vintage for this wine.
