Producer Notes

With three generations of dedication to the land, Rochioli Vineyards and Winery has earned the reputation as one of Sonoma County's finest. Drink Dates 2011-2014

Had "date night" on Friday the 2nd and I haven't opened a bottle of super premium stuff in a while. I figured Friday would be a good day to open some good stuff! I expect a lot for Rochioli's single vineyard productions. These guys produce some of my favorite wines - especially chardonnays. Anyway, the nose was absolutely gorgeous. Lots of fruit - toasted stawberries and cherries with some earthy nutmeg. The mouth was a good balance of bright and earthy components. I expected nothing less. Kind of a short finish given the pedigree of the wine. I don't hold that against it so much though! Awesome bottle - just out of my price range for the most part! Drink it pretty soon though...

A little disappointing although did open up over the evening. Tannic and tart, maybe even a little backward with tannins whelming the nice cherry fruit.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
