Chateau Beaucastel, run by the Perrin brothers, is regarded as one of the best estates of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. At 131 hectares of vineyards, it is also one of the largest estates in the region. Showing very little age. Red black color, with blackberry liqueur and minerally licorice aromas and flavors, and very subtle smooth tannins. Dense and concentrated but with good lift and freshness thanks to the superb balance and underlying acidity. Wonderful nose, strong lush midpalate, followed by long finish.

Good. Initially seemed to have a little corky mustiness, but it blew off and the wine was powerful and flavorful.

Intensely concentrated violet hues draw you towards the glass. Bouquet of anise, blackberry, red currant, clove, and black pepper. Anise moves onto the palate, meeting with very soft tannins and strong acid. Long and powerful finish.
