Flinty - classic california cab with light tannins (at this point) for a cab anyway

Opened a few years too early, after fearing I had held it (like others) too long. Still firm tanins, benefitted from 30-45 mins of decanting. Good fruit balance, good finish. Would easily be 93-94 in a few years.

Layers of dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, and even some earthy notes on the nose. Very well balanced wine. The finest expression of a big California Cab right through the finish. Flavors flourish at the end and tannins are tamed after 6 years in the bottle. Fruit is strong enough will drink well for even another few years.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
