Decanted for two hours. The 2005 is still very youthful in dark plum color and a bouquet of violets, wet earth, roasted cherries and vanilla. Medium bodied, but hefty on the palate: chestnuts, bittersweet chocolate and currants. Still young, and needed to be decanted. Paired gamely with the big Christmas meal we had of prime rib and lobster tail.

Sweet, black fruit on the nose and the palate. Certainly a well made wine, but I guess not really my style for some reason, a bit too dainty perhaps?

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
