($110-$190) Good deep red-ruby. Reduced nose offers redcurrant, plum, coffee and smoke. Sweet, lush and creamy on entry, then chewy and tactile if a bit closed in the middle, with suggestions of darker fruits and mocha. Impressively broad on the back, showing a serious wave of finishing fruit, but the tannins are a bit sullen today. Give this very lush, long wine at least seven or eight years of cellaring.

Dark core but shaded at the rim. Attractively distinctive nose – something actually quite terroir-driven about this one at last!!! Glossy and very flattering and gorgeous with a good texture, and some really interesting flavour as opposed to just macerated black cherries. Refreshing. Limestone? Exciting.

Dense ruby/purple, with notes of crushed rock, blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with some licorice and chocolate, this full-bodied, massive wine from proprietor Philippe Cuvelier coincides with the resurrection of this premier grand cru classe in St.-Emilion. As the wine sits in the glass, notes of espresso roast and chocolate emerge. This full-bodied classic should continue to drink well for another 25 years. This is a killer effort.

Black in color. Blackberry, licorice and brewed coffee aromas follow through to a full body, with a wonderful concentration of fruit, a great texture and polished, silky tannins. Goes on for minutes. 4,580 cases made.

An excellent expression from Clos Fourtet, as it seems poised to give the 2003 a run for her money. Ripe, concentrated and jam packed w/ cassis, espresso roast, boysenberry and exotic purple fruits that titillate the senses. In all its effusiveness, the palate reels in the flavors to a fine focus that showcases finesse, texture and length

Super inky purple, with cherries and raspberries. Extremely smooth tannins even now, this wine seems quite approachable young, and has a depth I haven't experienced from this producer before.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
