International Wine Cellar (Issue 131,89-91) Bright ruby-red. Ripe dark fruit and bitter chocolate aromas. Supple and sappy, with very good winey depth to its dark fruit and mineral flavors. The persistent finish features fine, palate-coating tannins. Quite primary. Professional content appears courtesy of Vinfolio WA 88 Wine Advocate (171) The 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrees Vieilles Vignes offers scents and flavors of black cherry, black raspberry, beet and bitter chocolate, a sweetly rich and formidably dense overall impression, but relative simplicity and considerable astringency.

Ageing nicely. Dark fruit and surprises with the ripeness. Good tannin presence. Will sit and get even better with age.

Tasted twice in last week (at home and at Robuchon in Manhattan). Both times the wine has performed admirably. Plenty of power allayed with some Burgundian game (not too much) and smoky fruit. Excellent length. Really a stunning wine for a villages AOC

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
