A delicious zin. Ripe, concentrated, lush blackberry, black cherry and bluberry fruit. Tannins fully integrated. Enough acidity to keep this light on its feet. Long-lasting, delicious finish.

A dead ringer for a young Chateauneuf du Pape, the perfume of grilled beef, violet, pepper, sage and tea fooled me immediately. While heady, the body of the wine concealed the alcohol content admirably. Silky arrays of pure raspberry fruit sashayed over the palate w/ a sense of refinement that belied the wine?s size. Rich, without being overdone, the wine?s character was more about polish than sheer extraction. This example of masterful winemaking highlights what possibilities lay w/in the Zinfandel grape in California.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
