Producer Notes

Drink Dates 2005-2010

Dark garnet with thick legs that show just a hint of color. A big, inviting nose of red fruits, milk, stone, minerals, light herbs, and white chocolate. Smooth but formidable and persistent tannins allayed with low but acceptable acidity. Concentrated fruit and excellent length. 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 5% Cinsault aged for 18 months in steel and neutral oak and bottled unfiltered. Drink now to 2010 (I have some concern re the level of tannin so drinking earlier while the fruit is in ascendance is advised).

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
