Named after its first owner, Chevalier de Lascombes, this Margaux ranked Second Growth vineyard produces powerful, tannic, yet elegant wines. Once owned by Chaix d'Est-Ange, a General to Napoleon III, Lascombes encountered a revival in the mid 20th century under the control of Alexis Lichine. Wow ! This is a massive wine still very tannic, even after 4 hours of breathing. Difficult to taste past the tannins. I would leave it for another 3 - 5 years

decanted and drank after 2 hours. Colour: dark plum. almost viscous. nose: black fruit. light cedar. grilled meats. chocolate? taste: red fruits. smooth. rich and creamy. slight oak. very tasty . this wine will undoubtedly improve in bottle for 3-5 years and drin well for the following 7-10 years.
