This is a really terrific wine. Dark purple, silky tanins, sexy. Wonderful mouthfeel, dark cherry, leather, and hints of vanilla and mint. 40 second finish. Showing a little sediment, and at its peak.

Retail purchase, decanted. Dark hue, belying 8 years of age. Warm nose, mild oaky vanilla. Creamy attack, then the fruit us secondary to wood, spice and dry tannins on the finish which remains warm. Label says both French and American oak used in barrel aging, rather unique for modern Cabernet. Originally priced $60-80, the $40 library sale through WineAccess gets a bid. Open, I'm not sure it will improve.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
