Twomey's story begins with a remarkable vineyard - Soda Canyon Ranch - in southeastern Napa Valley. The Duncan family purchased the ranch for Silver Oak's Cabernet Sauvignon, but soon discovered that the blocks planted to Merlot featured top-flight clones, worthy of a wine on their own. Drank 1/2011. Still drinking well, although won't get any better. Flavors of red fruit and carmel.

Drink Dates 2005-2010

Medium/dark red. A ripe, plush, and quite forward nose of oak, cherry, plum, and some herbs and chocolate. Surprisingly structured with good length; excellent acidity; and somewhat drying tannin. 94% Merlot and 6% Franc that was raised completely in French oak. Drink now to 2010 (the earlier the better).
