Very fine example of syrah. Inky dark, with bold black currant flavors. Somewhat spicy, peppery finish, which has an almost zinfandel quality to it.

A wow wine by any measure. Chimerical in nature ? at one time it reminds me of a an ultra ripe La Mouline while the next it presents like a top line Santa Barbara wine such as one of Sine Qua Non?s superb Syrahs. Opaque with light to moderately pigmented legs. Intensely sweet dark fruit aromas envelop dark toast, some minerals, caramel, chocolate, white flowers (honeysuckle), light vanilla, and blueberry pie. Tons of velvety fruit caress the palate. Admirably long with chocolate and oak nuances in the finish. Tannins and acidity are well integrated with the moderate tannins completely obscured by a wealth of fruit. Syrah (or any wine for that matter) does not get much better than this beauty. Five years in the cellar can only help but I would understand drinking this up right now. Intricate and hedonistic at the same time. After receiving a cold soak and extended maceration, the wine was raised in 50% new French oak for 18 months. 96% Syrah and 4% Viognier.
