Very nice taking consider the vintage. Fully mature, very ripe fruit of black and red currant currant, soft tannins, medium-full body. At this stage is very approachable, delicious and satisfying cabernet. Enjoy now!

We tasted the 1997 and 1998 Caymus side by side. Both wines had deep red color and good body. The 1998 was a bit rough and really did not taste all that good. I considered this one corked. The 1997 was nice from the start and got better as time went on. After an hour it was soft, it had more dark fruit and chocolate type flavors. Very nice!

Drink Dates 2007-2009

Rich and exotic, with layers of currant, black cherry, espresso, mocha, mineral and herb. Turns supple, all the while maintaining its firm and youthful tannic structure. Drink now through 2009.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
