This is a profound example of Sangiovese that is beginning to unwind itself into a lovely drinking experience, thanks to a decade of aging. Notions of dried flowers, smoky tobacco, tarry cherries, rose water and truffles scintillate from the glass. The palate pumps out intensely endowed fruit in spades and really stretches its legs on the powerful, almost chewy, effusive finish that goes on and on. While I still find the Flaccianello to be the most classic example of pure Sangiovese from Italy, this is undoubtedly a worthy successor and is evolving into quite a beauty

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
