Low US Retail is updated twice a month and excludes outlier listings. Detailed listings are sourced daily from our partner, Global Wine Stocks, and may include outliers. Note that you can use the 'Report a problem' link which appears after clicking on any individual listing to notify our content team and partner of incorrect wine matches.
Auction prices are based on actual auction results (inclusive of buyerÂ’s premiums) of 750ml bottle sizes only. As auction prices fluctuate from auction to auction and some wines have limited auction activity, the average auction price is updated twice a month and derived from a proprietary algorithm.

Three cuvees: 25-35 year old vines, 45-50, & "old vines" (60-80). Consistent tasting notes. Fine dark color; very profound nose; very concentrated; lots of structure - the tannins are round & ripe and have finally softened and integrated (this wine always needs time in bottle to resolve its tannins but the '96 has developed a bit faster than the '93); rich pure fruit more like a Volnay without the rusticity typical of Pommard; some new oak; excellent fruit and acid balance; gorgeous long finish; drinking well now and will hold for many more years with plenty of fruit to last.

Still a bit tight like most of the 96s but decanted it this time, better.

Closed at first, opened up some after about 45 minutes in the glass. A bit light for my taste. Just ok.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
