This is a classic Barton and classic St. Julien, well made and balanced between ripe fruit, oak and tannins. Is mature and full of complexities you expect from this well value, trustee 2nd classified Bordeaux chateau. IT has leather, cedar, ripe fruit and toasty oak but is such balance ...all were so well integrated that is very easy to drink and to enjoy. Medium to full body, medium acidity and medium to long finish. Tasted from Magnum bottle.

Drinking beautifully now. Tannins all resolved and well integrated. Nose of cassis and mild cedar. Medium body and acid.

Decanted briefly. Typical profile of L-B at this stage - firm, promising, and not quite ready to unfurl. Those iron gates on the label are there for a reason. Became sweeter and richer, and tannins softened, with air. Needs another five years or so -- worth the wait, to judge from this outing.

Fruit forward nose, cherry and leather. Very well balanced, medium sweetness with a taste of raisins and leather. Tannins still a little strong, but drinking nicely. Will get better. Light fruit and wood, barely getting anything on the nose. Dark fruits, heavy tannins, menthol, no finish now. Try again in 5 years or so. hard to rate

Beautiful berries aromas with a hint of mint. Medium to full bodied with soft tannins. Very long finish. Great wine!

Reminded me of a 3 year old Bordeaux, considering the wine still had toasty, spicy oak elements in its sweet, inviting nose. Other characteristics of melted asphalt, graphite, currant, roast coffee and chocolate ganache make themselves apparent in the palate, which seems nearly precocious until the palate trails away to absolutely nowhere, making me question the wines overall quality and potential. Yet another bottle that almost tricks you into thinking it is a classic, until the true colors show
