Grey Bear annual get together at Sam's Lake House. We poured many wines, three that I brough - 1995 laPoint, slightly thin, with good mineral flavors, color and clarity were good, this wine really heald up well and was a enjoyable wine! Mondavi 2009 Cab - Fresh - good oak and fruit blend, this wine has become my favorite every day wine at $20 per bottle. 2003 StoneStreet Cab - still drinking well, this is a great wine at $30 that will last for 15 years or so. Good color and clarity, had nice fruit and after 10 minutes of breathing was drinking softly.

Pleasantly suprised by this, given the luke-warm Spectator score. Big bouquet of cherry liqueur, oak and lead pencil shavings - a classic Bordeaux nose, although somewhat muted. Smooth midpalate of substantial weight, showing dried orange peel, black tea and a hint of plum. Plenty of acidity and tannin remain. Frustratingly short finish. Relatively low alcohol content (12.5%) makes this wine food-friendly.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
