Red Proprietary Blend
Producer Notes

Opus One Winery was founded in 1979 as a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. waooo how good this wine have developed in such finesse! it is in incredible drinking balance ...perfectly aromatic, great red and vivid palate and very complex finish that is so charming and same time complex and vivid that will fall in love. Is in peak condition at least this bottle. Was the wine of the night in a 1994 wine tasting along with Quilceda Creek (stills too young!), Joseph Phelps Backus (second and very close to Opus One), Far Niente, Pesquera Janus, and others.

Lacking a little in the mouthfeel but still a solid showing from Opus.

Great fruits, very strong tanines still. Would be able to save for another 5 years

A bit disappointing as the wine was very dry. I did. It get the heady, lucious flavors that I associate an Opus with.nevertheless, abundant flavors of plus, blueberries, mixed with strong oak and woodsy flavors. Some whiffs of even aged balsam. Although creamy and long, the wine had some extra dryness to it. Preferred it few years younger

very good but can still improve. I will wait 3-5 years for the remaining bottles. Very French in terms of texture and taste. Still a bit of tannin taste but very balanced lacked some roundness to merit a higher score

Consumed at wine tasting. (1st flight was horizontal, comparing 1994 CA Bordeaux blends. 2nd flight was vertical, comparing different Dominus vintages. This wine was in the 1st flight.) Color: Brick red, lighter at edge, slow legs. Aroma: Mineral, ripe fruit, vegetal. Flavor: Soft, earthy, medium tannins. This was the group's favorite of the night.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
