Interesting to compare to the 1990, which had more secondary aromas. This had the same truffle smell though, just not quite as strong. Decent primary fruit left. I'd say this on the tail end of peak. Little acidic. Otherwise, delicious, elegant, medium-weight red-fruit cab. Mondavi Reserve has never let me down.

Dark purple, supply and rich color. Burnt old leather and a little smokiness. Dark rich fruits, blueberry. Medium mouth feel, with drying sweet tannins. Strong hold on the finish with some tobacco. Solid and chocolatly

Pretty boring at this point really, having lost most of its fruit but not picked up too much in the way of aged highlights. I can't attest to how this wine was stored, and it very well could have been an off bottle.

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
