this wine is just past its peak, but instead of fading away, now has developed a mellow smokiness that gives it an elegant touch of class commensurate with its age--still fully enjoyable from open to finish. drink up!

Drink Dates 2000-2020

Properly stored since purchase. Has some of the traditionally described Haut Brion characteristics of tar and tobacco aromas. Color is medium ruby red with little sign of age from the color. Medium bodied in texture followed by complex flavors - fruit, tobacco, slight oak and earth. This complexity and smoothness reflect the elegance of Haut Brion - not too forward but never backward. Wine was decanted but seemed to decline after 2 hours. I suspect that this will keep but not improve or change dramatically. Enjoy now or keep 10+ more years.
