Ready to go. Still good fruit. Excellent balance and nice long finish.

Dark burgundy-red color w/only a hint of amber edge; explosive nose of black fruit, cassis, and exotic spices; similar flavors on the palate, excellent grip, intense yet elegant; very complex; soft integrated tannins; amazingly intense long finish; a great Hermitage that is drinking well now and has plenty of life ahead.

This one has finally come out of its shell. Not especially typical - more floral red fruit than smoke and leather. Beautifully balanced, with firm but well integrated tannins sitting in the background. Could develop some more complexity over the next several years. Karen recommends decanting early. Comparisons with the 1988 will be interesting.

at almost half the price of 1990 La Chapelle, the 89 is almost as good as the 1990. A wondeful expression of Northen Rhone Syrah at peak drinking condition.

At Talulas Table paired with Wine Soaked Poussin, Parmesan Risotto, Cipollini Piccalilli, and Fried Chicken Skin Dark purple with a surprisingly explosive, super ripe dark fruits.Much more forward than the 1990 but not quite as delicious. This is very big and yet still showing finesse. Drank with 2.5 hours of air

A flawed bottle may be affected by cork taint, heat (maderized), oxidation, or excessive sulfur. Additionally, some people consider wines tainted by Brettanomyces (Brett), a non-spore forming genus of yeast, a flaw although there is much controversy surrounding the subject.
