Vinous | Rating: 94The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru was slightly subdued when I tasted the barrel sample. One usually expects expressive fruit, but this feels withdrawn, yet still well defined. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy on the midpalate, with supple tannin and a taut, crisp, mineral-driven finish that is pure joy. Burghound | Rating: 92A pretty nose mingles notes of spice, cherry, humus and discreet wood influence. The exceptionally delicious and very supple lighter weight flavors lack a bit of mid-palate density though there is an attractive complexity on the bitter cherry inflected and mildly warm finish. Maison Louis Jadot has been in the town of Beaune since 1859, and has a stellar reputation for producing wines of excellent value. Maison Louis Jadot controls 105 hectares of "domaine" property that is divided into four groups: Domaine Louis Jadot, Domaine Gagey, Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot, and Domaine du Duc de Magenta. As a negociant-élévateur, Jadot also cultivates long-term partnerships with many growers which allows the representation of a larger range of appellations. Jadot's portfolio includes wines from regional appellations, Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâconnais, and Beaujolais.
