Wine Advocate | Rating: 100
Composed of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2015 IX Proprietary Red Estate sports a deep garnet-purple color and nose of smoked meat, blackberries and black currants with suggestions of baking spices, dark chocolate, fertile earth, dried Provence herbs, cardamom and lavender plus a touch of cigar box. Full-bodied, rich, firm and restrained, it has a lovely earthy, soft-spoken style at this youthful stage, promising great things to come over the forthcoming 25-30 years.Drink Dates: 2019 - 2049Author: Lisa Perrotti-BrownIssue: 233
Ann Colgin, a former fine art dealer, began her label in 1992, and it quickly became one of the most sought-after names in Napa. Winemaking duties were originally handled by Helen Turley, then Mark Aubert in 1999. Production of the Cabernet Sauvignon Herb Lamb Vineyard is very small, with only about 350 cases produced each vintage. As with most of the world's truly great wines, Colgin's philosophy revolves around low yields and meticulous care of the fruit in the vineyard, winery and transportation between the two.
