2014 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / PULIGNY-MONTRACHET

The 2014 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru has much more mineralitAc than the Bƒtard-Montrachet this year; this is precise and poised, with cold slate and granite aromas that seem very focused, whilst keeping something back for later. The palate is fresh and focused with a keen line of acidity. There is great depth here, razor-sharp and mineral-rich with a long finish. There is just a hint of bitter lemon on the aftertaste that keeps this wine on its toes. This is another razor-sharp, complex Chevalier-Montrachet that will reward cellaring.Author: Neal MartinBurghound | Rating: 97
There is a touch of mineral reduction that adds breadth to the wonderfully elegant and ultra-pure nose of various citrus and floral elements that are trimmed in just enough wood treatment to notice. There is a gorgeously refined mouth feel to the chiseled, intense and palate staining medium weight plus flavors that display an almost pungent minerality on the cool, harmonious and hugely long finish that is dry but remarkably not the least bit austere. This stunningly good effort is Zen-like in its sense of completeness and 2014 should make for one of the future great vintages of this storied wine. Note though that it is presently very structured and is going to require plenty of cellar time.Author: Allen MeadowsWine Spectator | Rating: 97
Vivid and tense, setting the stage for lemon verbena, green apple, nut oil, chalk and spice flavors. A hint of tannins is present on the long, bracing aftertaste. Racy and refined.Author: Bruce Sanderson
"If the blessed slopes of the Cote d'Or are home to the ultimate expression of Chardonnay, then Anne-Claude Leflaive could be regarded as the magician, some might use the word "shaman", who can conjure wine like no other from this propitious terroir." - Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
