A tasty, entry-level offering, the 2014 Pinot Noir Estate The Bohan-Dillon is soft, delicate and open-knit. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, cedar and dried flowers are all laced together. Silky and gracious in feel, the 2014 will continue to drink nicely for at least another handful of years. As it often is the Bohan-Dillon is one of the best California Pinots in its price range.

  • David Hirsch is a pioneer of pinot growing on the rugged Sonoma Coast. He planted his Old Vineyard on an ocean vista ridge-top in 1980 and sold his premium pinot and chardonnay in the decades that followed, building a reputation of excellence. Focus has always been site-specific, with wines made to highlight the uniqueness of the Sonoma Coast. In 2002 David and his wife Marie began their own winery in order to explore for themselves the possibilities of their Wine Spectator-dubbed a grand cru site, which had grown considerably from the original plantings. The production of their Estate wines is now beginning to expand, but remains limited. They also make a second wine called Bohan-Dillon, named for their road.
