As it often is, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus Vineyard is rich, powerful and supple, with a hugely appealing combination of silky tannins and dense, concentrated fruit. The flavors are a bit darker than usual - which is the vintage speaking - but all the elements are in the right place.

Here is a perfect wine with incredible aromatics showing lilacs, violets and roses. Slate, blueberry and blackberry undertones. Full-bodied, powerful and intense. Blueberry and hot stones. Incredible depth and intensity. This needs at least three to five years to come together. The mountain fruit delivers such structure and richness. About 300 cases. September release.

the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Lotus was harvested October 9-18. It is a 300-case lot. Very floral, which probably explains the name of this cuvee, with acacia flowers and violets, a seamless integration of acidity, tannin and wood, great purity, and wonderful classic blackcurrants, mixed with hints of blueberry, charcoal and background barrique notes. It's dense, full-bodied, very pure and has a finish of close to 55 seconds. This should turn out to be an outrageously fabulous Cabernet Sauvignon. It has at least 20 years of upside to it.
