Arkenstone Vineyards, founded in 1988 by proprietors Ron and Susan Krausz, is situated high on Howell Mountain. I didn't see all of the wines they make, such as their Syrah and Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, but what I did see was super-impressive. Readers would be hard-pressed to find a better Sauvignon Blanc than their 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Estate, which is a 524-case blend of 94% Sauvignon Blanc and 6% Semillon showing gorgeous, extravagantly ripe, wonderful melon fruit with hints of honeysuckle and tangerine oil. The wine is aged in a combination of concrete and new oak, but is exotic, medium to full-bodied, but with zesty underlying acidity and minerality. This is a beauty to drink over the next several years.
