(15.9% alcohol): Dark red-ruby. Slightly roasted aromas of dark berries, minerals and black pepper, with a floral topnote emerging with air. Fat and sweet but a bit youthfully aggressive, with concentrated dark blue fruit and graphite flavors supported by serious powerful tannins. Very structured zinfandel from volcanic soil. This will need some patience.

It is eclipsed somewhat by the spectacular 2012 Zinfandel Fredericks Vineyard, a site that was planted in 1937 at about 900 foot elevation. This beautiful Zinfandel possesses a wonderful sucrosity, richness and intensity. I would highly recommend drinking these Zinfandels in their first 4-7 years of life.
