Deep ruby. Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of dark berry preserves, incense, rose oil and smoky oak, with an Indian spice nuance building in the glass. Stains the palate with deeply pitched blackberry, floral pastille and fruitcake flavors that are enlivened and given spine by juicy acidity. Deftly plays power off of vivacity and shows a supple, fine-grained texture. Clings with remarkable tenacity on the finish, which is framed by velvety tannins that are subsumed by the wine's lush fruit. Is this the best wine I've ever had from this winery? Probably--and it's also one of the top wines of the vintage, which is saying something.
