2012 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
UNITED STATES / CALIFORNIA / NAPA
Wine Spectator | Rating: 92
A bold, sturdy, muscular style, with a firm core of tannin-laced red and dark berry, licorice, charry, cedary oak and graphite flavors. The tannins clamp down and cling on the finish, making this a good candidate for cellaring.Drink Dates: 2017-2030Author: James LaubeIssue: Nov 15, 2015Wine Advocate | Rating: 99
From a high-elevation vineyard that was replanted in 2006, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain reveals an opaque purple color as well as notes of mulberries, graphite, blackberries and a hint of charcoal. This dramatic, ostentatious 2012 is in keeping with the stylistic characteristics of this vintage. Multidimensional, stunningly pure and rich, it is a beauty that flirts with perfection. Drink now-2032.Drink Dates: 2014 - 2032Author: Robert ParkerIssue: 215Vinous | Rating: 93
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a classic Howell Mountain wine built on beams of firm mountain tannins. Purplish fruit, floral notes, mocha, licorice and espresso open up over time. The 2012 is explosive and burly, but it is also at times a bit alcoholic. Still, this is a vivid, expressive wine that speaks to the unique personality of Howell Mountain as seen in the 2012 vintage. I imagine the 2012 will enjoy a long and broad drinking window starting pretty much upon release.Drink Dates: 2018 - 2027Author: Antonio GalloniIssue: Dec 2014

Excellent young mountain cabernet. Tannic, but opened nicely within two hours, great complexity and balance, a really strong effort. Expect that it'll be tremendous in 5-10 years.Drink Dates: 2020-2035Author: James T
