2012 Maison Joseph Drouhin Marquis de Laguiche Montrachet Grand Cru
FRANCE / BURGUNDY / PULIGNY-MONTRACHET

A ripe and fresh if distinctly reticent nose displays elegant and complex aromas of acacia blossom, white peach and a pretty array of citrus nuances. The silky and exceptionally rich full-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that confers a wonderfully textured, indeed almost chewy mouth feel onto the palate coating, serious and naturally sweet finish that delivers outstanding persistence. This is not a huge Montrachet though the Drouhin version rarely is massive but I very much like the graceful delivery and impeccable sense of balance. 2012 is a genuinely lovely vintage for this storied wine.Author: Allen MeadowsWine Advocate | Rating: 96
The 2012 Montrachet Grand Cru was picked over different tries depending upon vine age and grape ripeness between September 22 and 25. It has a strict bouquet, very stony and tertiary at first, but opening with aeration to reveal scents of Alpine stream and dewy grass. The palate is extremely well-balanced and clearly more powerful and complex than the Criots-Batard-Montrachet. Patently there is great depth here: very pure with hints of marmalade and Seville oranges furnishing the long, persistent finish. Excellent.Author: Robert Parker
