This appealing red shows supple generosity, with cassis, blackberry, wild berry, raspberry and spice notes. Trim midpalate, the wine ends with refreshing minerality that keeps the flavors fresh and lively. Drink now through 2029. 1,000 cases made.Drink Dates: 2015-2029Author: James LaubeWine Advocate | Rating: 91
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Blue Line, which sees about 70% new oak, is a sexy, open-knit, lush, concentrated wine offering notes of fruitcake, blackcurrants, cedarwood, underbrush and wood spice. Powerful yet silky smooth, it should provide plenty of pleasure over the next 10 years.Author: Robert Parker

Lots of blackberry in a fruit forward wine. Toast and coffee on the finish. Good structure. But overpriced.Author: Litig8tr
Proprietor Jeff Smith has developed Hourglass Cabernet into one of the most anticipated releases each year since its debut in 1997. Winemaker (and Jeff's fellow band mate) Bob Foley gets the most out of this vineyard, named for its location at the narrowest point of the Napa Valley, just north of St. Helena. Production is consistently under 1000 cases.
